The Borough of Berlin has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to replace and upgrade water meter equipment throughout our service area. This is the first phase of a multi-year project. The meter replacement is free. It typically takes the technician about 45 minutes to replace the meter and upgrade the meter-reading device. 
 Customers will be receiving a letter from National Metering Inc. to make arrangements to schedule an appointment. You will be required to call National Metering to schedule an appointment. There will be pertinent information in the letter to confirm that you are speaking with National Metering. IF ANYONE CALLS YOU TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT DECLINE AND CONTACT BOROUGH HALL.
Why are you changing my meter?
Your meter must be changed due to its age.
What are the benefits of a new meter?
The new meter uses the latest technology. In addition to ensuring accurate billing, the meter can be used to detect leaks in household plumbing and help with water conservation efforts.
What will the technician do?
He or she will remove the old meter, install the new meter, and upgrade the meter reading device. The meter reading device may be relocated outside the home. 
The technicians will follow the CDC, OSHA, and New Jersey State guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our customers and National Metering employees. National Metering employees complete a COVID-19 screening each morning before they report to work. They will wear gloves and masks and respect social distancing guidelines in your home.
