Camp Director, Kristine Height, will have Open Registration for Camp-Long-A-Coming during the Police Day event on May 19th at the Berlin Borough Community Center from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please note, the deadline to register for the camp is Friday, June 7, 2013.

Berlin EMS Update 2013 On behalf of our members, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the residents and local businesses as well as our Mayor and Council members for their continued support in 2012. In 2012 our department was dispatched to a total of 2329 emergency calls. There were 854 in Berlin Township, 1055 in Berlin Borough and an additional 420 mutual aid calls to the surrounding communities. for more information click here

July 4th already? News from the Inter-Community Celebration Association….. It may still be winter but not to us, planning for this years’ July 4th festivities has already begun. The parade and fireworks will be on Thursday, July 4th with a rain date of Saturday, July 6th. The parade will begin at 9am from the West Berlin Fire hall on Haddon Ave. We are targeting to have our website www.berlinicca.org updated by mid-March with pageant information, links to forms and emails. Please check back often. We are planning on having a house decorating contest this year so get those creative juices flowing. The municipal clerk’s office is getting a lot of complaints about animal waste on sidewalks and grass near and around sidewalks in many areas of the borough. Realizing that animal owners do not have many areas to walk their pets, we ask that you carry with you the means of disposing of your pet’s waste. It is very unfair for our community to be subject to this problem and it is very unfair for those of you who are considerate and DO pick up after your animals. On April 20, Mayor John Armano and Councilman Gary Knight attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for two new businesses in Berlin Borough and also to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Anita’s Jewelry located at 136 So. White Horse Pike. The two new stores are Berlin Blossom and the other is Chocolates by Nancy located at the corner of the White Horse Pike and Estaugh Avenue. Everyone wishes these businesses well and to continue using these establishments to keep Berlin down town growing.

The Senior Citizens Club of Berlin Borough had an exciting day April 17th. They officially moved into their new location at 131 S. White Horse Pike. To add to the excitement of the day, Mayor Armano handed the keys to Ida Mae Clegg, President of the Senior Club organization for their transportation. The seniors have scheduled a “Grand Opening” at their new location on June 1, 2013 at 12 noon. Everyone wishes the senior organization the best of luck.

On April 16th a plaque was dedicated to former President Roy Schmidt at the Old Railroad Station. He was instrumental in the moving of the Berlin Hotel and it’s renovation along with other projects in town with the Berlin Fire Company and the Railroad Station.

Mercantile license renewals will be coming up as of June 30, 2013. A renewal packet is going to be sent to each license holder with an application to be filled out in full. We are currently switching our software program for mercantile licenses into a new system and the updating will make our records more efficient. Remember to please renew your license before June 30 to avoid a $30.00 late fee.

ALSO…… for you pet owners. Remember, Monday, April 30 is the last day to register your pet to avoid a $25.00 late fee. You may do this by mail if you have an up to date rabies certificate. Please call this office if you have any questions.

April 13th was opening day for the Berlin AA at the Community School fields. Opening Day started with the re-dedication of the Teddy Moos Memorial and his wife and family were in attendance. Mayor John Armano, Council President Jim Bilella, Councilmen Nick Maccaroni, Jim Pearce, and Gary Knight were in attendance as well. Mayor Armano threw out the first pitch and it was a great event to start the baseball season. Good luck to all the teams!

Autism Awareness “Hands Around the Lake” program was held April 9, 2013 at Archway in Atco, NJ. This program helped promote autism awareness. There was entertainment, food and music and it was a great event. Everyone should be encouraged to come out next year and support this program.

The ANMAC, VFW Post 6253 located in Berlin, NJ hosted a Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Winners for 2012-2013 Luncheon on April 7, 2013. Meghann M. Herman was honored as 1st. Place Voice of Democracy winner and William M. Michaelis was the proud 1st. place Patriots Pen Winners. Awards were given to a total of six 1st. 2nd. and 3rd. place winners Post commander, Kevin P. Krasovetz, Opened and closed the ceremony with prayer and lead the pled of allegiance to the Flag while Dennis Chance narrated a very successful program. The Mayor of Berlin Borough, John J. Armano, gave encouraging remark to the winners. District 7 Ladies Auxiliary President, Camilla Albano spoke regarding the Ladies Aux., and Past State Commander, Earl Courter spoke about the VFW as guest speaker.
